I learned to sew while expecting my first child over 20 years ago. Back then you could buy patterns and fabric and come out spending far less than you would on the purchased item. Seldom true anymore. I stayed home with my girls for 7 years during which time I took in sewing and alterations to help offset the increasing cost of living.
When I did return to the work force I spent 12 years in publishing working as Manager of Editorial Productions for a financial publishing firm.
Sewing and crafts in general have been life-long allies of mine. I’ve often referred to myself as a “Craft Traveler” as I often find a new interest and spend months on it until my interest is caught by something else.
Over my lifetime I’ve crocheted, made soap and other bath items, created my own scents, make home remedies, made candles, created mosaics out of tile and glass, make stain glass windows, build wooden boxes and toys, and consistently threw it all I’ve sewn. While expecting my third child I was unexpectedly laid off.
Finding myself home and with limited funds to prepare for the new addition I turned to my sewing machine. With a little imagination I was able to come up with dozens of items I could make for my son and myself that would make our lives so much easier and most at a fraction of the cost.
When people first began to remark upon the items I made I thought it was funny how they were often mistaken for expensive name brands.
Over time as the orders to make them came pouring in it became obvious there were others that felt the same way I did and I decided to offer the patterns to the public so they too could experience the joy of supplying for their families items they might not otherwise be able to afford or at reduced prices.

My son loved soft-soled shoes! They are great for babies just learning to walk or those that just can't stand wearing regular shoes.
